The Woodstock show this year was fun as usual.
I got to meet Howard Klepper & Laurent for the first time.
You can trust me -their guitars show impecable workmanship & design!

David Laplante was there along with Randy Muth,
Showing their incredible works!
Dave brought his Torres I think #008 replica and a Braz.classical.
Both just stunning works!
Randy has a brace & bridge-tailpiece setup that puts only 10 lbs
of tension on the top and sounds incredible.
Plus his finish work & woodworking skills are just incredible.

John O. brought his works of art -I love his guitars!
Great fit,finish & sound!
Doesn't get any better then that !
Very nice man also !

Zootman Bob Cefalu ,along with Bob # 2 and son Peter
brought some amazing woods with great prices !
I got some great figured Indian !
He had Braz.Ziricote,waterfall Bubinga,Tiger Myrtle
Tops ,fingerboards.etc...........
Got to spend some time talking to them all.
They are dedicated to finding & selling the best woods for guitarmaking!
John Hall was there!
John is a great guy to meet !
Lot's of knowledge & fun to be around.
Beer & a single malt!
Very nice guitarmaking tools & parts also.

Jody showed up & spent some loot for some Zoot !
and some Vodka & Cranberry !
Very nice man !
Corky & I traded some woods & I know he scored some old growth
Brazzzzzzzzzzzilion !
Plus he showed me his 7th geetar.
Pau Ferro -& Spruce.
He's on his way to guitarmaking addiction!
I couldn't find his van after he told me he stashed that great set under the seat !
The great thing about this show is that there is a Mini concert every 30-35 minutes using instruments from the attending makers that is of course
an approved maker/player deal set up before the show.

This is the OLF makers I know that displayed.
If you view the site www.woodstockinvitational.com
you'll see the other makers also.
A good list of very good makers.

Way to much to tell so I'll stop here!

Mike

this was a great show not just the show but the area. It was a blast to see so many of my customers but the top was the talented kids floating around. There was a 12 year old kid David Heagy from Queens ny. we got about 20 seconds of video and will post this asap. I am so glad I went. Laurent , howard mike tom ribbecke , mike gurian and mr ervin somogy were just so approachable. Pardon the spelling , am one tired puppy. This show was so great that today I am feeling my age

I agree Mike, this show was lots of fun (like an ASIA show as far as interactions with other luthiers) but wth lots of public.
Great to see you as well as John Hall, John Ostoff, David MacCubbin, Randy Muth and fun to finally meet Corky Long, Howard Klepper and Laurent Brondell, Jody and "Hendersonisgo". Hope I didn't miss anyone!
A real pleasure to see friends who I've known for a long time as well such as Ivon Schmuckler, Tom Ribbecke and Bernie Lehmann.
The overall level of work was of course very high and the public had oodles to look at and choose from.

So, folks, lots of positive vibes -- but how were sales? Any takers or just lookers?

Daviid MacCubbin selling a guitar and Mike Collins receiving an order are the two that I heard directly Rick, don't know about others.

Sales interest was as good as I have seen in a long time. Though I didn't sell guitars , i did sell out and got to leave early. Many positive comments and it was so great to get to meet so many fellow luthiers and some of the older pros. I can't say enough about how approachable everyone was.
David Laplante , Howard Klepper , Laurent , Bruce , Dale unger EVA and Ervin , tom Ribbecke , Umanov and Mr Gurian just meeting them all made my day. What a classy bunch.

It's all been said here. I had a blast and really enjoyed meeting and seeing you guys:
Mike Collins - great trade, look forward to doing it again sometime.
John Hall, looking forward to finally having a reliable binding router setup. Thanks.
David Laplante, great meeting you and look forward to seeing you at the next one of these.
Bob(s) Cefalu and family - great seeing you as always.
David MacCubbin - congratulations on the sale! Great hanging out with you as usual. Very pleased to meet Claire.
Great meeting you, Howard Klepper.
Great seeing you, John Osthoff.

It was a real pleasure meeting Ervin Somogyi, Michael Gurian, and many of the performers. What an approachable group of people.

Great show - I look forward to attending next year, as well.

I also checked out the show. Amazing - saw so many incredible instruments and people all in one place. It was mobbed Saturday afternoon when I was there -- could barely get around. Hope this show has continued success. It was great meeting some of the poeple I have admired for so long....

Chuck

Rick;
I sold a Flamenco & got 2 confirmed orders.
Having a good player use my guitar for a mini-concert
helped with the sales for sure.
It's tough as at most shows to hear because of the
loud activity.
I was fortunate to be close to one of the "listening"
rooms.
That helped allot.

Mike

Thanks for the kudos Mike. Everyone's work that I saw was exceptional. I find these shows so hectic, I don't get to meet as many builders as I would like. It's hard just keeping up with friends I know. I have to do better.

I got a call back on a guitar I that I brought (ebony b&s, Italian top, Florentine cutaway, tailpiece design) the next morning, check's in the mail. I also have three very good prospects.

Great show! And only two and a quarter hours away.

 Glad to hear that some guitars were sold at the show. I selfishly hope this will happen every year because I only live twenty miles away. I wish I could have been there on Sunday to but I drove up to Malone to spent a couple days in Dave Nichols shop finishing a Mahogany dread and starting a Black Locust OO. Two days of good progress and I drove home today. Nice to see everyone at the show and looking forward to the A.S.I.A. Symposium in June.

Yeah , I didnt get to spend as much time there as I wanted to , I had some business to take care of in new jersey on saturday and again on sunday morning .But I did run into a few old acquantances. Saw John Hall long enough to shake his hand and have him point me in the direction of some awesome Zoot ! Discussed some things over a drink with Mike Collins ... who made me an " offer I cant refuse !" bliss , chatted a bit with David LaPlante, Met Howard Klepper....missed a chance to talk to Bruce Sexaur...maybe next time .. three hours goes by fast .. especialy as I was mesmerized by the last set of music by Larry Campbell, with guests Happy Traum, Teresa Williams and one more fellow (whos name I didnt catch ), playing a dobro type instrument.
All in All I had a great few hours there observing the awesome workmanship and the fellowship of the building community . Jody
