I posted how I make my bridges in the tutorial, jigs and fixtures section. You can find it here. I hope someone finds it useful.

Hey Rod! Good to see you back here. Did you make it to the woodworking show out your way last weekend? I would have liked to but couldn't make it. Did you purposely make the last photo poor quality just to keep us in suspense? :D That's looking like a very cool guitar. I copied your saddle slotting jig a while back and it works great. Just wondering, how you drop in with your router? It always seems like the most precarious part of the whole procedure. Good tutorial! Thanks.

Take Care,
Danny

Thanks Larry,

Hey Danny, no I didn't make it to the wood working show, although I went 2 years ago. I would have loved to gone but couldn't make the time.

Sorry bout the poor quality pictures, using my iPhone way to much in the shop.....but suspense is a better excuse :D

Ya, I find dropping in the router for cutting the saddle the most precarious operation too. I have no good tips for you other than to move slow and sure. Wish I had a plunge base for the laminate trimmer. I just tip the base and hold it against the taper rail and lower it into the bridge blank, ensuring the router base stays tight to the rail.

Here I've been doing the pin holes freehand. Very slick tip there Rod and a great tutorial.

Thanks and very much appreciated.

To make slotting a less "precarious operation" slot it first, just after the blank has been thicknessed. Its tons easier when the blank is still a block to clamp and hold tight.

And do you counter sink and pre slot for your strings? It's 2 more steps and 5 minutes of time and it makes everything look that much more detailed.

Enjoyed the tute Rod! Thanks.

I couldn't determine for sure, but it looks like you cut the saddle slot at 90 deg. Do anyone have suggestions for nice method to cut the saddle slot at an angle ? (maybe 5-7 deg) Seems you either need to have the bridge laying on a surface slanted at the appropriate angle..........or you need the bridge flat and the router riding on a slanted surface.......or have a router base that can tilt to the appropriate angle. My router base doesn't tilt so that's not an option for me.

Thanks again Rod for the tute!
