The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Hans.. good to 'hear'... laughing6-hehe ...sorry, way too much acetone and glue in the shop last night, still feeling the effects.

Woody, nice, and, sorry you have to part ways so soon. Have you got a maple fretboard on that as well? Give us some full frontal.

Mark... lookin' good. Walnut/maple laminate neck? Can't wait to see that one under a finish. It appears as though you have some other walnut objects in the room: coat rack, extra neck, finished chest, framed stewmac binding/purfling routing pattern... nice. You must have a stash.
