Steve it weighs as much as a banjo...well almost. 5# 7-1/2 oz!
Had it apart again and added an oversize clear guard (Maureen already put some very light fingernail scratches in the top, dang flatpickers) and lowered the action a bit more. So, it's relearning again, but Maureen was astounded at the treble "pickup" this morning.
Here's the photos...not great, but gets the idea across.

AHH! That's what I like to hear! That's the way a real man builds a guitar! [:Y:]

Again! Excellent work on the big guitar Haans! We don't get to see Jumbos very often on the OLF ..matter of fact I don't remember seeing one before. I wonder why that is?

I really need to get new glasses I don't see any pix at all! :D

Haans -

I really love your work.... you've got that Larson Bros. vibe down. I love it - good inspiration for me in what I'm trying to do. What a sweet guitar. Is that Amazon Rosewood? Brazilian?

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Haans you are the man. Not enough superlatives to describe your work but I enjoy it every time I see it.

Is that an elevated fingerboard?
Or just the FB binding not as deep as the FB? (my eyes - got to go to the optician!)

The binding on Larson brothers guitars have a ledge routed for the fingerboard.

Back from my delivery trip to Iowa.
Yes, the fingerboard is routed for the binding and shows under it.
My friend Bob is coming over Monday and we will get a clip or two up of the beast. I have to tweek the action a bit and dress the frets, so there is still a little work to do.
The one good thing about retirement is that I can pretty much build anything I like, experiment with purflings, in short do things "out of the box". This behemoth has been a lot of fun to build, and I'm on the hunt for another fun project. Meanwhile I've got 6 guitars and two mandolins to finish...
Thanks for the kind words and support all!

Thanks Colin!
We're pretty happy with it so far, can't wait till it's been pounded on for a while. Trying to get Maureen to do "Santa Fe Trail" with it, maybe I'll have a clip in a few days...
