I built 2 nylon electrics with RNC pickups a few years ago. There are 6 individual brass pickups
that feed both analogue and MIDI information to both a mixer and a MIDI control module(the Axon in the video).
The MIDI control module then triggers samples.

Basically, a MIDI guitar acts just like a MIDI keyboard does
except that the notes are triggered by guitar strings instead of keys.
