Montreal is one of my favorites. It is (usually) over the July 4th weekend and combined with the Montreal Jazz Festival. It is a great show. You can't really sell at the show if you are from the U.S. but I have met a lot of great folks there and taken a few commissions.

Another is the Newport show hosted in South Florida. I have been to that once and it was a good show... still in its fledgling stages, but I think if Henry sticks with it it will find its legs and be very good. Montreal started out with somewhat modest beginnings too and now it is one of the best shows IMO.

A show I want to learn more about and try to attend is the Woodstock festival. That looks like a good show too, but I have never been and I don't have any real info about it.

As far as getting an invite, talk to the promoters, send them good pics of your work, have someone they know (and who knows your work) vouch for you. That should be enough to get you an invite.

Well, the NAMM is not really accessible to the common individual luthier.
There was a display/gathering of builders at NAMM organised by Bruce Sexauer called "Luthier Consortium" (in a booth shared with Allied Lutherie), with open evening jam/parties in a neighbouring hotel: that's the closest to a guitar show there.

Try this link, it shows some of the smaller shows around the states.

I realize it's not a guitar only show but that wasn't really the question.
There were several small builders/luthier supply shops at the NAMM in 08 (I didn't get a chance to go last year), I don't see how it is any less accesible than any other show.

The OP mentioned guitar shows other than Healdsburg. NAMM is not realistically accessible to small builders because renting a booth is incredibly expensive.
