I was thinking about getting one.
I plan to use it for thicknessing peghead veneers, roughing out a carve top electric,
and was wondering if I could thickness wood bindings.
No info on forum archives, but I did find some videos on how to use it.
Looks good, but I'm a little wary of it.
Do you like it?
How is it on figured wood?

I don't know about stock as small as binding strips. That could be troublesome. I have one for my drilll press and one for my radial arm saw. I don't use either very often, as chip control is impossible, or certainly elusive. Stuff goes everywhere. It's big stuff so it's not dangerous, but it makes a mess. It would be nice to have a Safe T Planer booth.

I love mine. I use it to thickness just about everything...pates, sides, bindings, veneers, curly grain woods, etc.
For bindings you have to thickness the board and then cut it into binding strips. Just one strip by itself would probably break.
It is messy with the chips! Sometimes you can position a shop-vac hose to catch most of them.
It does leave swirly marks so leave enough material to sand them out.
I think its a great tool for the money and pretty useful for light duty luthier stuff.

Yes. Your table needs to be set up perfectly flat to the planer.I put a support board under

Dave, I like your hold down device!
I still didn't get one, because woodcraft sold it 2 days ago.
I'll get one though.
Might work well for roughing out my bridges,
which look sort of like classical ones.
