 Post subject: Humbucker helper needed!

I've got the stewmac router template for a Gibson humbucker. Its basically a rectangle with tabs on the sides. If I cut the tabs out per the template what does the humbucker screw into since the top wood will be gone where there are two screw holes (center on each side). Unless the humbucker is held in place only by the mounting ring which of course is screwed into the top. Is this the way its supposed to be - humbucker supported only by mounting ring? This is a first humbucker install for me. [headinwall]

The humbucker is held only by the ring, or pickguard unless you direct mount it (no ring).
