Michael, hate to be a pest, but did you find those links for the wool?

Actually no???? I have found the one where I buy socks from http://www.localharvest.org but the two that I bought pre woven fabric from, I am not finding. I foud the one I bought wool batting from and that works fine but you can get wool batting at almost any quilting suppy

For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the place I bought the brushed and combed raw wool and the hand woven fabric from. I will do a Google again here in just a bit.

I like the socks the best but I wear them a season first

I just noticed that Local Harvest also caries the natural wool roven which is what i like to use as the inner muneca if not the sock fabric.

Just a follow up note. Ballet Dancers often use wool in their toe shoes. So you should be able to get lose wool at any speciality dance store that sells toe shoes. Most cities have a specialty dance store. Here is an online source.

For the pad in the muneca--- has anyone tried a piece of natural sheepskin with the tanned hide still behind the wool? I have tied up a couple of munecas with a pad of it(outer is undyed tight weave linen, also well worn/washed) but have hesitated to use them. The actual nap is about 3/8" to 1/2". I have quite a bit of this from a homemade seat pad I made for a BMW touring motorcycle(perhaps 1970). Thanks, mt

Clip it and wrap the wool in a piece of cotton, and keep the whole ball in the center of the muneca. After some use, you can unwrap it, and it will stay together. It works fine. I used a bit of wool from one of the Lambswool Poly Spreaders for my first, and it worked great. Bought it at HD for $6 or $7. Still have a bunch left. I since found an un-dyed sweater at Goodwill for $2.00 and cut it up into round pieces and stitched them in layers, for the center wool section.

You can practice your sharpening, and shave it with a plane blade or chisel. :D
