I use a template to mark the radius, then plane to the line, followed by sanding in the dish.

This brings up a topic that is highly debated on here. Sanded glue joint vs. planed glue joint. Seems like the sanded glue joint mostly gets blasted, while mostly overlooked for braces, which have a narrow glue joint. But in order to get the closest fit, you must sand in the dish (if you are gluing in the dish).

I've always sanded in the dish as my last step regardless of whether I started in the Dish or not, because of getting the true "dome" of the radius top or back and because the brace in the radius jig would usually slip to some degree so I needed to do that last little bit in the dish to get the correct radius.

It's just a whole heck of a lot of sanding to start out in the dish.

So maybe with that being said. My most simple approach might be to just create some templates, pencil in the line and cut it out on a band saw to get it close. Then sanding in the dish is minimal.
