I've made what I'm calling a "soprano" guitar, with a 17" scale length, and tuned up to B. Think mandolin sized, but with 6 medium ga. steel strings.

Anything like this out there?

If you can capo a dread on the 7th fret, and still play, you could play this one fine. It looks tiny, but you adapt to it quickly.

Although its not steel, it is 17" scale, with 6 courses.

I think this is the one Todd was talking about.

I don't think I'll get one until I've got a vac like Hesh so I can find it.

Danny Ferrington made a bunch of 'baby' guitars with 17" scale- mostly 'celebrity' things with custom inlays, etc. Interesting work.
I recently got a copy of the book about his guitars ($11 including shipping to Canada- what's not to like?).

Abebooks seems to have quite a few copies- try to find a new one WITH the CD. It's an interesting read, v.good art design and layout, though the guitars themselves (Fender-style bolt on necks) are not 'my sort of thing'.
