Hey everyone-

Today I went to the Woodworking Show here in Atlanta and bought some cool tools. The first 2 are these great little Japanese milled-tooth files - they are the smaller 8" ones. I used them today on a piece of poplar and they work as well (for me anyway) as the Auriou files I tried. For $16.50 each I was impressed. Lee Valley is shipping them and I should have them in a week.

My other tools I bought from Tony Murland - a tool seller from England. He is at http://www.antiquetools.co.uk. The 6" boxwood spokeshave is from Sheffield - it's tiny. The Irish chariot plane is brass with a steel sole and stuffed with Brazilian RW.

The files and spokeshave are for neck carving and the plane is because it was my birthday, my buh-buh-buh-birthday. Woo-hoo. :D Sorry, I just had to share my new lutherie booty.

Happy Birthday John! Irish Chariot. What a great name. Just makes you want to take it for a ride.

Buying tools is so exciting. My wife thinks I'm strange, but buying a nice chisel or plane is just exhilarating.
