Just a quick update....

My wife is home from the hospital and is in a brace that immobilizes her spine and
keeps everything in line for proper healing and a full recovery. She's in a lot of pain
but is doing her best to just stay still and follow the doc's instructions. She a very
active person so lying flat on her back is driving her nuts already.

We're just hoping that all goes well, she enjoys a full recovery and we can get back to
normal and I can get back to a decent work regimen again in the next four to six
weeks or so.

Thanks,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars

Kevin,

I hope she is able to deal with the pain using ibuprofen, or at least can relatively quickly wean off the stronger meds (often constipating, adding to the discomfort.)

Be sure to massage her feet daily and don't let bed sores happen on her bum or heels - use pillows and move them around a lot to keep changing contact points. I believe in megavitamins/minerals and lots of pure water to speed healing. Hot baths when she's ready (insist on assisting her into and out of the tub.)

Wishing her a speedy and complete recovery, and sending positive thoughts and prayers to you both.

Dennis

Having been immobilized for over six months in the past two years, I know just how aggravating this can be. Make sure that she has things to occupy her mind (boredom can become terrible) and does not have any stresses to worry about (that can seriously compound the aggravation). Also good tips that Dennis gave you there, although those pain meds really work well for what they are meant to do, they can cause a whole other bag of issues so its best to wean off as soon as possible. Last of all, just being positive around someone in this situation is a huge help.

God bless,

Terriible situation. I know exactly How you feel being a smallBusiness owner as well. I often get called by a company offering to pay my wages if I can't work. Insurance. It's a gamble that is usually stacked in favour of the insurance company. But sometimes a policy holder can collect.

I think the secret to these things is life style. Having non, means you need very little to live on. Eating simple, entertaining simple, etc. These are the only things that keep your costs down. Having good extended health care is important as well. No matter what we are not getting younger and with that more health issues.

I dont pray but keep you and yours in my thoughts and offer the above for thought for you.
