Hi All I am looking to purchase a diamond fret file. SM one seems to be the standard one most people recommend http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_su ... _File.html

Here is one I found on ebay that is much cheaper
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Diamond-fret-cr ... 286.c0.m14
looks like its about a 3/32 file, does this look about right?

thanks
Richard

I just picked one up, at that price, why not? Hasn't arrived yet, but I'll let you know. All the feedback appears to be good and folks seem to like them.

Well, it arrived, and certainly looks and feels the business... I'll give it a whirl sometime soon and report back, but I expect it should be just fine!

used it today and it works quickly and accurately. I would prefer the offset one for over the body area, but this works if you are slow and careful.

I say its worth the money, we'll see how long it lasts.

Thanks for that info Todd. Nice to know the STewMc one will handle the harder fret wires.

I havn't had an issue but I do use naphtha to keep things cool . It helps to float out the dust and avoid caking in the diamond dust.
