Hi, I'm new here and mainly have been lurking around since I've finally started building my first acoustic steel string. However, I am also thinking of renecking my old (1960's) Spanish made classical guitar, which appears badly in need of the operation. I tried a search here, but wasn't able to find any threads discussing that subject. Can anyone point me to some helpful resources?

Sounds like a big job! I assume you are talking about a new neck, new finger board, etc. Hanalai Moon makes very affordable necks. Send the old neck to them and they will create a new one.

Getting the neck off is another matter altogether, and then refinishing will be a project unto itself. How much is this guitar worth? Is it a collector's item? I think you should answer this question and then post some current pics.

Re-necking a classical will require removing the back if it is actually a Spanish build guitar. Without seeing pictures, it's hard to assess the project, but one option might be to remove the fingerboard, using a hot iron and pallet knives, then saw the neck off of the sides, make a new neck and bolt it on. I would, though, first ask why it needs a new neck. Is it warped? There might be other fixes that are less extreme.
