My wife just posted the pictures on her website http://www.donna-drphotos.com/ClassicalGuitar.html
This one will be mine so I took some liberties. It's not what I would consider a nylon string guitar given the spanish heel construction, fan bracing, 1 15/16 in neck, typical classical BRW bridge and FP finish. Not sure if the purist would call it a classical because of the inlays and sycamore bound neck. But I love it. Like I said it's my first classical. I 've never held a true classical other than the ones at Guitar Center. Mine sounds better than the $150 ones !! I would like to find some one local to critique it. I'm getting my joints better but my finishing.....well....it's my guitar. Spanish cedar neck, IRW b&s and sitka top from Bob, thank you Bob! 7 strut fan, BRW bridge, spanish heel, syacamore bindings and 1/2 herringbone purfling. THe rosette is lace wood with the same purfling with some green and blue one thrown in.

Thanks for looking!
Clinton

Nice job, Clinton. You should be very proud of your success. I really like the interesting cutaway version.

Fantastic work! I have always been a fan of 'different' designs so this is right up my alley. :D Love the lacewood too!

Clinton, that is great looking guitar. I think the design details work very well together as does the colour palette.

Very well done in my books!

Shane

Thanks guys! bliss I thoughly enjoyed this project. I don't play classical guitar YET, fingerstyle and thumbstlye is more my speed. I'm definitely building another classical, probably for my son. I haven't decided to use the spanish heel or not. Thanks for looking. :D Clinton

That's all classical is, Clinton, just fingers and thumbs! :D Mostly, thumbs in my case. I think I have 10 of them, at times! [headinwall] gaah

Yeah I know what you mean [headinwall] I will surf youtube for classical guitar and wonder why I try to play the instrument. [uncle] Then I come to realize it's because it's a nice way to spend time....

Do you think that a spanish heel lends itself to a better sound?

Personally, I don't think so. What it does provide is a bigger base of, glued, in support for the pull of the strings against the neck, vs a bolt on with no foot. I doubt you could tell the difference in sound. Lots of folks build bolt on classicals that sound fine. Here is a guy, check out his website.
www.stevenwalterguitars.com. Steve is a talented player, who teaches music at Furman University. He does most of his building in batches during the off season for teaching - summers. His guitars are immaculate. He builds, what he calls, a Hauseresque, guitar and one that is similar to the Humphrey Millennium - raised fingerboard, and top that slopes toward the player starting at the tail, running all the way to the heel. It moves the moment of tension on the bridge to an angle more akin to a harp, and, in my opinion, the guitars have a somewhat harp type sound, go figure! They do sound good though, just not traditional. Anyway all of his necks are bolt on's. He even has a statement in his instruction sheet, that says don't touch the bolt on the inside of the guitar.

Well, with that being said, I think I will go back to the bolt on just for easier finishing. I'm really falling for the classical guitar. I did enjoy building out of the form and on a solera. I'm thinking of making one for my steel strings? idunno I think I've read that Sexauer doesn't even use forms. I aspire to get to that level! Clinton
