Having a few extra days vacation I decided to search out some tonewood.
Here in Southern Alberta there are no local shops you can simply stop in and browse....
Having read the great reviews of Lutz Spruce I shot Shane Neifer an email and he told me to stop on by....
OK folks, look up Terrace, BC on Google Maps - it is somewhat remote....hahaaaa (hint, you can almost see Alaska!)
So I hopped in the car and drove the 3200Km round trip.

It was well worth the trip - Shane is a terrific guy and very passionate about tonewood - he kindly showed me his incredible operation he has going on up there and his stashes of amazing exotic woods. (as well as the Llamas.... :D )
I ended up with more than a handful of amazing Lutz tops (rays, rays, and more rays....!) and an equally amazing set of Bubinga B&S.

Looking forward to making some sawdust with these very special woods....

Oh yes, and the drive is spectacular, especially the last leg from Terrace to the Pacific Ocean....

Rob, don't tell us you didn't take a camera along...
You DO have pics, right?

Steve

I did bring a camera, but BC in general is quite smoky with the 800+ wildfires on the go - the pix I took did not turn out at all....
As for Shane's operation, I checked my camera at the door - so many enticements - Shane will be updating his website soon....

Rob,

It was GREAT to meet you. I wish I had more people that were close enough (3200 km, remember I said I was few km's past the middle of nowhere!) to stop in. Hopefully the next time you stop by the new shop will be up and I won't have to lead you through to the nooks and crannies just to find a couple sets of wood! We on this board are looking forward to the progress pics once you start on those next batch of guitars!

Thanks again!

Shane
