I am at the point where I need some nut files, reamers, etc. Mounting bridge, saddle, nut and end pin. What tools (without going overboard) do I need to get?

Mike

Anyways.....You should get the Grobet nutfiles, there is one guy online selling 8 for $104.00 on ebay. They are the best ones. Check string sizes

The Stewi Mac reamer is recommended, not getting a cheap one, you can't get around it, but there is also a $9.00 bit at stewi mac, if you know your sizes for the posts. I never asked that yet, still down the road a bit...

Bang bang, maxwells silver creditcard came -out -of its bed,

Stew Mac reamer is pricey but it's a great tool.

I use the double sided set of three Ibanez nut files that LMI sells and have been quite pleased.

Ya Mike, the stew mac reamer is the tool for the job on bridge pins.

I also have the 3 piece, double sided Ibanez nut files, but I got them from Allied back when they were less expensive. LMI is less expensive than Allied on these files. They work good for me over the past 4 years now.

You can try Warmoth for nut files: cheap/good.

They do the job nicely at a reasonable price. And a [:Y:] for the SM bridge pin reamer.

Good Luck,
Danny

So, they offer 3 degree and 5 degree pin reamers. What is the most popular?

Well, of course it depends on the pins you like to use.

I use 3* and that's the reamer I have. If you're going to do repairs at all, it's good to have both.
