Hank, what is an in-cannel chisel? I haven't a clue?

An in-cannel chisel is a curved chisel with the cutting bevel on the inside of the curve. Curved gouges and chisels these days have the cutting bevel on the outside of the curved radius...what was called an out-cannel in the old days. The beauty of this chisel is that it cuts a smooth, straight, curved trough which is just what's needed to ramp a slotted headstock.

My Supermax 25x2 drum sander--seems to get more use than any power tool in the shop
+1 for the John Hall Fox Bender and blanket
Another John Hall vote for his inlay tool
This forum is also a pretty good thing! :D

I'd have to say that my two favorite tools are our homemade fox-style bender and vaccum device. The bender is very similar to the commercial model - except that we use 3 200 watt lightbulbs (I think they're 200 watt, my Dad made the bender...along with the other hundreds of jigs we have) with a mechanical timer. The vaccuum was an idea he got from Taylor guitars, it makes gluing up tops a breeze!

Unfortunatly no pictures to go with it, sorry.
