If the dips aren't too bad you might get away with just leveling the frets.
I wish it was that easy ! LOL I used a single action truss rod, it made the set up a bit more complicated than when I built the guitar with Frank Finnocchio( we used a double action rod ) fretting gave the neck a back bow , and I could not adjust the neck straight before stringing ! . so I just took a close look at the frets and went on faith , glued the frets in , strung it up, let it settle in. finished the set up and intonation . I had three buzzing frets, I took a little off with a file and some sand paper .My action is about 3/ 32nds on the bass side and about 1/16 on the treble. the playability and sound of the guitar is more than I expected !
