I saw this on Craigslist. I'm going to look at the stuff today:

"20 pieces of pre-CITES Brazilian Rosewood for guitar repair/restoration projects. Sold to me as being from the Martin factory.

App size of pieces:

Length: 16" to 22" long
Width: 3" to 4" wide

Most of these pieces are good for guitar headstock overlays & repairs (app 1/8+" thick)...a few, but not all, might be thick & long enough for fingerboards (the thickest pieces are app 3/16" thick)."

He's asking $110 for the lot. Seems reasonable, no?

That's not thick enough for fingerboards. And too thin for headstock veneer unless you 2-piece it.

If I were you, I would just get it .... the wider pieces will do a Martin style headstock, and you could always lam two together and make Fb .. as long as the radius doesnt go thru the top piece. Its plenty for making Fb binding .. or rosettes, glued up multi tiles or two piece rings. heck you could even lam a couple up and make bridges ...

Tony, have you ever made up a bridge from laminate - I expect that simply means gluing two pieces of wood to make one. I was interested in doing this some time ago with a bridge that I made too thin and was also thinking of a multiple layered bridge and the sanding to a pattern. Think someone discouraged the practice but dont remember and would like to do something with this idea. Thoughts ?

I have glued bookmatched halves together to widen a piece, but never to thicken one .. cant see why it would hurt though, I think I have seen other bridges on the forum here that were lammed up that way ...

Man, I called the guy to tell him I was on my way (had already spoken with him earlier in the day), and someone had just come by and snagged 'em... Oh well, easy come, easy go. He did say the other guy is a luthier, and has a bunch of brw for sale. He asked him if he could pass his ph.# on to me, and the guy said yes, so I may be giving him a call. I can't afford a whole set, but I'd love to try brw as bindings and/headplates. Anyway, thanks for the input y'all.
