Good morning,

Has anyone had any experience with HanoverBrazil in regards to Brazilian sets? I tripped over them on the Net and had never heard of them mentioned here or any other forums.

They have over 700 sets to choose from. Some are good and others not so. But if you know what you are looking at you can definetely find a few nice sets. Be ready to pay GOOD money for the nice stuff.

How does it work... do they have a bunch of pictures for you to choose from?

I have seen them @ shows, but by the time I got to their table the wood had all been picked over.

Brock, if you call them, they can send you a CD with sets to pick from...

I bought a set from them at the Newport/Miami show. It was one of their $700. sets (the "best" ones were $1500.).
Most of what they had was not too interesting to me at the prices they were asking. The set I did buy was a small one just big enough for a classical and was a better cut and color than the rest at the same price.
They seemed just fine to do business with.

I recently bought one of what they call their "Imperial" grade Brazilian. $1500 for a healthy OM sized guitar. It is very good quality and yes, their stuff is legal. I believe they are the only importers that are legal.

John, I didn't ask for it because I didn't need - the set is being used for a US customer. But they should be able to provide CITES paperwork if you ask them for it. The best thing would be to call them up and ask about what's involved in getting official documentation.

Luciano Faria is the one exporting this wood from Brazil and he is the only one authorized by IBAMA to do so. All his wood comes with CITES paperwork if you need it.
