I just posted this picture in another topic but thought it might make for a good NTB. Probably an easy one, but hey, it's still fun :D

Many thanks! I used Todd Stock's tutorial to build the mold and I absolutely love it.

That freaking goregous guit behind the mold is built by none other than Dermot McIlroy, you lucky bugger.

Apologies if I am wrong...it's SO similar... ;)

Edit: Nah, I am sticking with Mr. McIlroy. Beautiful guitars.
Edit2: I always wonder why people want to build guitars when they already own splendid stringed specimens...if I owned my dream guitar today, it would probably take the wind from my luthiery sails in an instant.

Dunno what I'd do instead..take up macrame, I suppose....

You got it Sam! [clap] [clap] [clap]
I think everyone so far thought I was referring to the guitar mold. McIlroy guitars are truly amazing. Dermot is one heck of a nice guy too. He is always quick to respond when I have questions.

You know I find it has been really cool to now know what it took for Dermot to create my guitar. That has been one of the most rewarding parts of my entire build....learning the feel of the wood and how it is to work, how soft or how hard, the way it smells. I have gained a whole new appreciation for my guitar in a completely different way. Now I can understand it as a player and as a builder.

If I had the money, I wouldn't think twice about commissioning Dermot to build me a guitar. The signature tone is heavenly.

BTW, I really figured you would get this one Sam. I've read several posts by you that reference McIlroy guitars. They really are spectacular and do have a very special tone.
