Interesting idea Rod.

Things certainly aren't ideal, that's for sure. They need to designt these things for 80" ceilings...

I'll investigate that, thanks!

Starting to look like a place where work might get done. We grounded and sealed the collector and fired it up. Oh my! What a difference. Sadly, the bandsaw won't turn on. Hopefully the electrician made an error and there's nothing wrong with the saw...

Need to make a hood for the sander, even though the air current is so strong that with no collection hood in place at all, with just a 6" port nearby, sucked up all the beasties. Seems promising...

Drying rack with enough space to host 60 panels and a dozen braced tops/backs...

Lookin good there Ed!!

I bet ya with that much horse power you'll be able to have 2-3 tools in use at a time (blast gates open) and not notice much difference.

Probably. But since I work alone in this room, I won't even need to. It's a pretty big machine. The airflow is pretty astounding...

I truly envy you! I've wanted an Oneida for ages, but have no headroom for one. I think the smaller drum is actually a good thing as it is much easier to empty than a full large drum.

This is true but he'll be dumping it once a week at his output 8-)

If I have to empty it once a week that's fine by me. It'll be less work than taking the filter canister off the old one and mucking it out.

Don, this thing barely, barely fits. The bucket lid is hard mounted directly to the bottom of the cyclone. The bucket has to be shoved hard into place by lifting the edges of the lid and popping it up like a mason jar lid. Less than ideal, but what can you do? As with most things, we didn't solve any problems, just exchanged the old ones for new ones. I no longer have room for the drill press and the air filter is in a stupid place. Ah well, we did it in 80 inches. If you have 82, you're golden, I promise.

I'm just thrilled to be done with ductwork...ImageImage

Looks like you had some fun with the sheet metal! Been there, done that, as they say.

I actually have 84" to the floor joists above, and then the height of them on top of that. Just no budget for my Oneders. Er, Oneida.

Yeah, I hear ya.

This all started with a Laguna SUV that needed a real collector to use right. So a 2k$ saw with a 2k$ collector with about the same in ductwork and building materials has made for a pretty expensive quarter...

Wow Ed, my hat's off to ya. I don't know how you got that in with only 80" headroom. I had 96" and had 12 1/2" left over. 6" of that was clearance on top and the rest the flex duct to the can. Maybe you can come up with a shorter bin that's a bit larger in diameter so it's not so hard to gat in and out.

Can you trim the flex duct tube an inch or 2? That way you could put the bucket on some wedges to raise it up into place. Pull them out and it'll just drop right down and you can pull the bucket out.

I don't think he has room, he said the bucket is hard mounted to the bottom of the cyclone. But it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a shorter hopper of some sort.
