Post subject:  satin rather than gloss finish on rosewood

I've completed my first guitar, a classical, except for the finish. I want to french polish it, but I want a satin rather than a gloss finish. What is my best approach to doing that?

maybe french polish, then go over that with 0000 steel wool? that would work, but it would be a bit self defeating. if you want a real light finish/protectant, parrafin wax is nice too, just rub it on with a hair dryer, then polish it off with a clean dry cotton rag.

Steel wool is so 19th century.
Get some fine scotchbrite, and you won't have little rusty wires all over your shop.
If you MUST use wool, get brasswool.

Years ago I restored an old hacked up SG with urethane & steel wool. I still looks great.
