As the title says, this is my second kit build.
Really love how it turned out, one thing I'm still not too sure about is maybe it needs a P90 pickup mounting ring, to mask the routed area.

Garry, nice looking instrument. What is the timber?
I personally would fit a neck pickup surround. Two reasons, the first is if it bothers you, it always will.
The edge of the the pickup detracts from the finish. I am not fond of plastic rings, and make wood ones.

Hi Mike,
Its an alder body with an ash burl top and maple neck
I hadn't thought of a timber cover trim... I think that would look quite good..
do you have any photos of the ones you've already done? would like to see one in action..

Garry, the only photo is of the very first instrument I built. I got plastic ones but could not shape them to fit an Archtop with looking nasty. These are not the greatest quality, but when it was nearing completion my son wanted it for band competitions. It has been a busy instrument for 4 years, he won't let me strip it down and rebuild it better. I was asked to make more.
Since then I built a jig to cut the 4 parts for glueing. Red cedar, glued, then dyed with ebony stain and nitro sprayed. Image
