Anyone know of a 3/4" arbor that would allow me to use shaper cutters on my CNC mill?

Still trying to solve the 3/8" round over issues we're having. Round over router bits have too small a minor diameter to cut cleanly at mill spindle rpms.

Depends what holds the shaper cutters on the arbor. If they're just a set screw or friction, then buy one of these (shell mill holder) and grind the nubs off:

If there's a key or something, then you might have to get one made. You can get threads cut and a collar put on a piece of 3/4" precision ground and put it in a tool holder if you're going DIY on it.

Personally would advise against this unless you have a horse of a router and machine, but if you insist......here is a company that offers such. ( Most shaper heads max RPM is 9,000 to 12,000....... most like to be in the 6,000-8,000 rpm range....... 3/4 shaft would be considered small or hobby machine ..... most commercial shaper heads are 1 1/4" shaft diameter and larger..... we own 25+ shapers so we do have a little knowledge in this area....)

This is something we do here daily with our CNC routers (for non-guitar work). We use some of these http://www.royceayr.com/assets/Uploads/ ... C45-51.pdf where the arbor is integral to the tool holder.

But your mill is probably cat40? If so, do what Bob suggests unless you can find a 3/4" arbor tool.

Problem is will you get into the tight horns with the much bigger diameter that this involves?

Thanks Bob, I knew there had to be something simple.

Thanks Kevin W, it's a mill so power and rigidity aren't a problem. Spindle speed can be a little limiting though.

Thanks 87kevin, CAT40 is right. I've found a cutter that will fit into 99% of the horns we do.
