I know there has been alot of interest in the Osage Orange guitar that I built, so I recorded a little sound clip of it. You can listen to it by clicking HERE

I recorded this using a kodak easy share camera, so the sound quality might not be that great, but you can get an idea of the tone and volume this thing kicks out.

Sound Clips of most of my guitars

Great sounding guitar Ken. I really like Osage and wish more of the guitar buying public would appreicate this wonderful tonewood. I have have an Osage guitar on tour with Jake Owen's guitar player and he loves the tone of it. He said that it is a dream to record with as you have just demonstrated.

Very nice sound! Good chops too! How was the Osage Orange to work with? The stuff I've seen was very dense and heavy. The guy at the local mill here(who's got quite a bit of it) warned me that it's pretty hard on blades but that it's still one of his favorites.

It resawed rather nicely, almost feeling like it had a wax in the wood. Sanding it was easy enough as the drum sander went right through it. I bent the sides at .070, and there were no problems at all bending it. I left the blanket on top of the wood and let the blanket heat the wood until I could feel strong heat through the wood on the other side. Then slowly screwed down the waist and slowly bent the lowr bout and then the upper bout slowly. Let it set under heat for 15 mins, then cool to room temp, then heated it again for 15 mins and let it cool overnight in the bender. There was a little springback, but nothing that was hard to deal with.

This stuff is so dense that it begins to develop a shine just sanding the guitar. I didnt do any pore filling. The rosewood could have used it, but the osage didnt need any at all.

I believe that I will make another one of these, a cutaway, to take to the newport-Miami show in April.
