Hello, Does anyone happen to know the actual dimensions for the w/b/w ring rosette on an early model L1 flattop? To me it looks like three rings in w/b/w and maybe .060 thick for white and .030 for black? Soundhole, if bound, looks like white 090? Also, is it ABS? Sure seems like it. ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m working on a uke that is in the L1 style of shape and I want to try to get some of the early flattop details to be accurate. Thanks! I have no idea what the actual dimension were. I just wanted to say that if you are putting this element on an uke and want it to fit thematically, the actual dimensions may not matter. The uke top will be quite a bit smaller. The normal dimensions for the rosette of the guitar may feel heavy handed around a small soundhole. You may consider looking at and measuring a bunch of photos to come up with an average relationship of the ratio of darknlines to light lines (ending with a narrower purfling scheme that has similar proportions to the original but scaled to the size of the top and soundhole. Then figure out what total width of the rosette fits with the body size. Apply that width to the ratio you decided on. Just like when you put wide top purflings on a guitar, the shape will end up looking different than the same body with just binding. Think about putting herringbone on a small uke body, it would really change the look. |

I have the L1 plans at home I think. The plans I have are for the 20s version, not for the OM looking one. If that’s what you’re looking for I can check that out for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks, all. I’m just after the dimensions of the layers, not the ring itself. It’s a baritone uke so I think I can keep the same thicknesses as the L1 or close without it looking too clunky. Brandon, if the plan has the thicknesses of the layup that would be great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
