Here are a few pics of a recent crossover build. It’s Sitka over Myrtle, 26” scale, 14 fret, 16” radius fretboard, using a modified Ramirez bracing pattern. I built a more traditional sized crossover at the same time as this one, giving the client first choice. I kinda want it back…! (It’s been added to the personal build list!) |

That's very nice! I've been wanting to do a crossover for myself but haven't figured out how to brace it. I like the clean look of the bridge, how do the strings attach? Based on the endpin it looks like you have a pickup installed - what kind, if you don't mind? |

I can send you a photo of my acrylic template if you are interested in seeing what I came up with. I’m using black diamond bridge beads https://www.rosetteguitarproducts.com/menu . I used a couple mini rosewood bridge plates on either side of the center fan brace for the beads to pull against. The pickup is a standard 4 transducer K&K. Cheers, M |

Michael, several times a year we will play music that calls for a nylon string guitar. I just fake it on my steel string but I've been wanting to have a nylon guitar for about 5 years now. I don't like playing classicals, they're too different so a crossover really appeals to me. I really like that it is a 14 fret OM with a 16" radius on the fretboard since that is one of my favorites designs. Time to get with it, I suppose  I would really like to see a photo of your template. I PM'd my email if you want to send a photo as an attachment. I suspected that you had the strings attached that way. I like the way it looks. I use K&K for all of mine so that's good to hear too! |

That came out nice. More traditional crossover being a Hauser style?? Curious as to how the Sitka paired up with the Myrtle. |

Hi Tim, My “traditional” reference is just about body size, Hauser works. As for the wood pairing, I’m not great at describing the attributes of a combination. I’m personally interested in building guitars that *don’t* sound like other production instruments, Martin for example. I really like the combo for SS. The Myrtle B&S choice was prompted by the client. It worked out. Here is a Fan-fret that came from the same flitch. It sounds amazing and won’t be in the showroom long (now that folks can come over and audition more safely). Best, |
