Yes...over a period of a few weeks......at least with french polish technique.....let 'em out too early and it will be back in the shop for 'touch-up'.....

Alcohol is less volatile than lacquer thinner, so shellac actually takes longer to shrink back than lacquer does at a given thickness. Many lacquer finishers allow for as much as a month after spraying the last coat for shrinkage, but since shellac usually goes on thinner (especially with a French polish finish) it doesn't usually take that long. Still, don't try to push it.
