Post subject:  NEED HELP on side repair for dreadnought build

I built a guitar for my buddy that lives 6 hours away so consequently Ive had to keep the guitar for about half a year after its finished. Unfortunately, I put the guitar on a wall mount stand, and it fell off the wall mount stand. When it fell, the side had a huge crack up the whole side. I reglued it and im trying to get it looking like it never happened. I sanded down to the bare wood and repainted most of the side where there was a split. My joint is fine, but the problem is that the wood around the crack is darker in color. I thought that it was because of the wood glue staying on the wood and discoloring the finished, so I resanded it down to the wood and clear coated it again. Same thing happened. I attached a picture. Let me know what is the cause of these darker spots and how I can fix it. Also the white spot is just where I sanded it through on accident, but now it doesn't matter cause Im going to have to redo it anyways to fix the dark spot.Image

No help now but did you use any side bracing?

Did you adhere the crack with CA glue? If so it may have bled through the wood and stained the surrounding area

What glue did you use? If CA then what Brian suggested is most likely it.

If you used something like Titebond then it looks like the crack was not clamped so that the two sections were flush and the glue pooled up.

You probably just have a lot more sanding to do and hopefully the sides are thick enyti take it. You may consider using a card scraper so you can focus on the area better.

Used titebond. I did clamp it. I don't remember how well I clamped it, but the joint is nonexistent at some places, so well enough. I don't believe that any glue pooled up, I wiped the glue as I was clamping (which I believe was the culprit) and I didn't see any pooled after I took off the clamp. But I agree with you that a little rough sanding might do the trick
