Anybody use it? Robbie O'Brien sure makes it look like a good product on LMI's video... |

I've sprayed quite a bit of Crystalac, but am not sure if their Brite Tone formulation is the same, now. The stuff I used had good working qualities (for a waterborne finish), but the blue cast was an issue on darker woods. Spraying a seal coat of shellac helped a bit. |

Having finished instruments with both Brite Tone and EM6000 (sprayed with an Iwata conversion HVLP gun) I'd be hard pressed to say that there is any difference in results. I haven't checked current prices but you may want to do so. My recollection is that Brite Tone is about double the price of EM6000, which my local paint store sells in quarts and gallons. Also, with EM6000, I can lay down a pretty good no sag wet coat, which eluded me with Brite Tone, but that could just be operator error of course. From my limited experience with various water borne finishes, WB directly on wood doesn't seem to pop the wood grain and figure anywhere as well as if applied over shellac or epoxy or CA. |
