Here's a short documentary about guitar builders that might be of interest:

At a few points, and especially at the end, Harry Fleishman preaches the economic Gospel of guitar building (IMHO).

Thanks. I have not seen Charles Fox since I took his course in 2004. He is aging well.

It would be fun to see a video of East Coast or Midwest luthiers and compare the philosophical musings.

Did anybody else notice the remarkable resemblance between Charles Fox and my all-time favorite singer-songwriter, and stunning guitarist, Jack Williams ? ( who is also aging well btw)

Thanks for this. I took the liberty of posting this on the AGF as well.

If you click on the SBAIC's user profile, you'll find the longer videos these pieces came from. I've really enjoyed watching all of them. Charles Fox has some great advice for your next professional headshot.

That was great thanks for sharing.

I remember all of those names from when I started building in about 1990 in the good old LMI catalog which I still have one of the ones from that time today and still every once in a while look it up. It was all about sharing and I learned so much from that, it was really the only way to find out. Now that sharing has come online of course and so the tradition continues. The incredible thing about building instruments is that the learning really never ends.

That was really good to hear from some of the greats of American guitar building.

And thanks to the poster who pointed out that the full videos were available. I particularly liked the clip from Charles Fox. He never actually mentioned Hippies but that was clearly what he was referring to.

And Charles is quite right to emphasize that the sharing should continue with upcoming generations. It is, and has always been a great positive trait of the guitar builders. This forum and others are good examples of how that tradition holds good.
