We have an older 1990/s 12inch delta bandsaw on a stand.It seems that the bearings keep seizing up. They are 22mm OD. and 10 mm ID . Does anyone out there have a source/supplier for heavy duty quality bearings?. The upper thrust bearings is mounted on a rotating type shaft .Thanks in advance

I think you need a 6900ZZ bearing, assuming it's 6mm tall.

I've dealt with Lynn at accurate & they're great. Lately I just go to Ebay mainly to save on shipping because in the past at least, Accurate only shipped by UPS Ground which will add at least $10.

I also don't think there's any sort of heavy duty version of that bearing, a 6900ZZ is what it is although you can pay more for a name brand version.

Based on my limited experience I wouldn't invest in precision bearings for this application- ZZ stands for double shielded. Once saw dust touches those shields it begins sucking out the grease and the bearing will begin drying out - just the reality of how things work. You'd likely be best buying several average bearings, and changing them as they wear, rather than hoping to get longer life from a fancier bearing.

ZZ are used because they have a lower rolling resistance, and lower cost that 2RS - which is double rubber sealed. The 2RS provide much better resistance to the sawdust, but with slightly higher rolling resistance.

I just got a smoking deal on a 5hp 12" table saw that had the ZZ shielded bearings in the arbor and motor fail because the previous owner never blew out the fine dust. I'm replacing with 2RS and should be good to go for years to come. Is this application I use ABEC 3, but for your blade guide you are likely fine with ABEC 1 or no rating at all as its not a precision application.

When I buy on the 'bay, jsbgreatbearings has always had what I need.

The 690 is a roller skate bearing. The standard problem is them eating sawdust because the "seals" are set up for skaters to go fast... Which means they dont really seal particularly well. The higher "quality" the skate bearings have fewer balls and lower resistance seals... Which means even worse performance eating sawdust. The fancy pants $5/bearing ABEC 9 bearings run about 1 second on my bandsaw guides before they clog and jam. The cheap metal shielded ABEC 6 bearings have more balls and steel shields - and they don't eat trash and clog instantly.

The solution I just ended up with was going with the "shielded" skate bearing - it has the metal covers rather than the rubber/plastic "sealed" bearing shield. Its been going now for 3 sawing sessions with no issues.
