I need to upgrade from my old Bosch RO sander, and am hoping that there might be a few members that have this sander. It will be used primarily for cabinetry, but for guitar related use, as well. Thanks!

Do you mean CEROS?

I suspect he does Ed.

Alex, I've had the 5" version for about 3 years now and I like it a lot. I bought it primarily because I have carpal tunnel and the regular ROS sanders I had been using were really hard on my wrists. The Ceros is much easier on my wrists and does a very good job - I think it is the next best thing to a pneumatic sander.

The Deros is the newest Mirka sander. http://www.woodessence.com/Mirka-DEROS- ... 4377.aspx# I could get the Ceros from another source, I guess, but I can't beat the price from Wood Essence, in Cnd. $'s I get all my finishing products from there, as well.

I stand corrected on that one. Looks pretty much like mine. Does it still have the external power supply?

Yes it does, Steve. There's a special offer if you buy the 6" model. You receive a 5" pad, as well! I have 100's of 6" discs, but the 5" are cheaper, and more easily sourced.
I have some shoulder problems, and sanding today has left it aching like a bad tooth, and it doesn't help the arthritis in my hands, either.

I think the Deros does not have the external power supply. It's more like the new Festool sander.

They are expensive but I'm glad I bought mine. The 5" is a good size for guitar work. I like the Abranet sanding discs

You are right, Kevin. The Deros has a brushless DC motor.

I was looking at the Ceros and Deros. The Deros does not have the external power supply but because of that, the Deros body is larger than the Ceros. Both have the brushless DC motor.

I would love a 3" version

Why not go with the Festool version?

A possibility, but I'm asking about the Mirka, specifically. I'm not looking to have a discussion about this sander vs. that sander, which has been done.

I tried the Ceros in y local tool store and it was simply amazing. Really light and powerful.
If I ever get another sander (I have two Festools) I would buy that one.

I have shoulder problems as well and I really like light weight tools.

Funny, if you put 10 of us loofiers together you couldn't make a whole person!
