I just got pricing on 90ยบ Angle Step Drill Bits for drilling the headstock tuner holes like this one; Attachment: StepDrillBit.png I was just going to order one for myself, but I thought I would get pricing for multiples and see if you all would want any. They are made in China and will arrive 15-20 days after payment. Here is the pricing for the bits, Stewart MacDonald wants $82 for one. I am still waiting on the shipping costs...; Attachment: Step Drill Bit-Pricing.png Attachment: StepDrillBit-Dimensions.png D1: 7.8mm-diameter (.307") D2: 9.9mm-diameter (.390") L: 80mm (3.149") L1: 18mm (.708") L2: 62mm (2.440") L3: 27mm (1.063") If the Board owner wants to do this I am fine with it, in fact I would prefer it if anyone wants to contact them. |

A Group Buy is a "labor of love". Lot of work. Lot of responsibility. IMHO, if you want this, you should do this. I don't see a huge advantage in the cost reduction (25 vs 1). Of course $20 is better than $82. Everybody that wants one says so. When you get to 25 you ask for checks. Be aware of problems with shipping to foreign countries (exchange rates etc). I'd limit it to lower 48. Oh, and yes, I will take one. ![]() Mike Edit: My advice is based in my doing group buys for AST Shell (Zip Flex). |

Now that I realize the bit is for those enclosed tuners, I'm no longer interested. |

I don't have the mind set to tackle this right now... I am on some pretty heavy duty meds and I have never done it before to boot. I emailed and PM'd Lance K. about it, and he has not replied so I guess that is a big fat No. Anyone else willing to organize it? I have done all of the research and found the manufacturer and gotten the prices...Will forward all email I have pertaining to it... |

I mean for a buck why don't you just tell everyone where to get them and let them do it on their own? |

Lance is often away for his daughters' equestrian events on weekends. He'll tell you one way or another, Dean. |

I am completely confused as to how I got "quoted" that way. Those are not my words. Just so it is clear, I'm gonna craw daddy out of this thread. |

Well why don't you ask a question instead of being suspicious and quite frankly, a little accusatory ? If you want a Carbide drill bit and 25 people join in the group buy it works like this simple math.... To buy a Carbide bit quantity of 25, each bit is $19.87 each To ship 25 Carbide bits is $51.39. If you have 25 people buying bits that shiping cost is spread across them at $2.05 shipping each. $19.87 per bit $ 2.05 Shipping $21.92 Total Cost to U.S. + what another $2 to your house ? Did I take everything into account ? Maybe not. I asked for someone who has done this before to help out. NO ONE offered to help!!!! Your appreciation for what I have tried to do really just shows me that my time has really been wasted on a few folks that really are just in it for themselves and don't think about anything else but. I can assure you that I will never bother to do something gratis for this board again. Thanks for nothing. |

And, before I get accused of something again... Here is the latest email I received from Helen Wang after I had changed the dimensions of the drill bit as was noted in the thread. Attachment: Drill Bit Pricing and Drawing 6-8-2015.pdf
