Closed on on Sunday? What? Don't they know guitarmakers work seven days a week? I need threaded inserts today! Sheesh...

I agree....Home Depot is where I get mine. Every time I go to Lee Valley I seem to walk out of there with at least an extra $100 worth of stuff I hang on the pegboard and may use once somewhere down the line.

Ahh - foresight and planning.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Yes, a classless operation, Ed. Whenever I break a Leigh dovetail bit, it is usually late on a Saturday afternoon. gaah Being a slow learner, after 2 or 3 times, I buy them three at a time now. :D

Inconvenient for those of us who do this sort of thing over the weekend, but cool in its own way. They want a day off; who can blame them? Have you ever ordered anything from B&H Photo Video? Even their website order page shuts down for the Jewish sabbath. Now, THAT'S dedication to your faith. Nobody expects a website order page to ever be closed for business, except when down for repairs.

There's this funny scene from That Thing You Do where Guy Patterson's father gets really upset after reading in the newspaper that the superstore in town stays open on Sunday. "I don't think I want to live in a country where a man has to work on Sunday to support his family" (or something like that).

I did about 10 hours of work at my profession over the weekend, most of it on Sunday. I wish I didn't have to. Darn progress.

Just because luthiers and the Chinese have to work 90 hours a week to make a living doesn't mean the rest of the world does...

Neither the Home Depot or Rona in my town have them.
