Wish I could help, but I bit the bullet and got a Stewmac set a few years ago.
Added a downcut cutter when my brother visited the states last year and could bring it back.
One alternative could be a bogdanovich style jig http://www.jsbguitars.com/productDetails.cfm?product=72

Thanks Colin might do the same ...some things you can't cut corners on (excuse the pun)

Try Wealdon down cut set and you can pick from a selection of bearings that you can buy individually. I have them and they work a treat. Great service and quality from this company too. Here is the link http://www.wealdentool.com/acatalog/Onl ... s_212.html

Very reasonably priced too.

Cheers, Bob

Another vote for wealden - good price, good service and excellent quality. If you want downshear cutters you could also get whiteside from routercutter - also good prices.

Like Colin, I have the full Stewmac set , but Wealden is my go-to supplier any time I need a router bit for any other purpose. Excellent fast service.
