Howdy all, I'm setting up to make Martin style necks and I'm having a hell of a time finding 9º dovetail router bits with a cutting length of more than 3/8". The Martin dovetail is almost 1/2" long. LMII sells 7º bits and I've found plenty of 7º bits that are long enough so I'm kind of thinking that perhaps they're really difficult to find. Anyone have a line on where to find them? |

Find a local shop with some CNC grinders and have em made. Won't be cheap though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ridge Carbide in New Jersey has done a good job fabricating custom tooling and altering existing router bits for me. The price isn't cheap, but within reason for this sort of thing. |

CMT make an 8 degree dovetail bit in some longer lenghts. Try routerbitworld.com for a decent assortment of bits, and reasonable pricing. B |

Contact Whiteside, I've had a couple custom bits made and their very reasonable, best carbide bit made imho. |

Hmm. Went looking online. Akeda makes a nine degree bit that has a 8 mm shank that cuts 5/8" deep, so you'd need a 1/2"-8mm collet converter. Bit here for 19 bucks: http://www.thejigstore.com/products.php ... a_products Scroll down to the 17th item. They also have one with a 1/4" shank. Whatcha think ? cheers, SteveG |

I can get you half way ther with an 8 degree bit. http://www.woodline.com/p-1485-dovetail-bits.aspx It is the CMT 818-706 1/2 inch shank, 1&1/4 inch cutting length and a 13/16 inch top Dia. |
