Looks like you need to place the cut off piece on the bottom of the long piece, not the top. This should fix your issue. I could just be seeing it wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. |

Chris is correct. The cutoff needs to go on the bottom of the blank. Have a look at this Robbie O'Brien video on neck blanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlRBNCa_odI Cal |

Gerardo : The scarf joint can be done either way. Some folks prefer to do it the way you are showing as there is less chance of short grain when the neck is worked down to size. I do it the regular way just because I prefer the look. The choice is up to you. Tom |

Gerardo, Looks to me that you'll have to follow Chris and Cal on this one. While Tom is correct that some have done it the other way as far as placement of the scarf joint, it doesn't look like you've got enough length on your headpiece to leave it as is. You'll need to separate the two pieces and do as Chris and Cal have suggested. Don't feel too bad, it's not an uncommon mistake (I speak from experience on this one). |

Gerardo: I think Martin is right in terms of length in the fashion your photo presents. That is a good thing because I think you did nothing wrong and all you have to do is present the short piece to the long on the other side of the long piece. Tom |

Yes to what others have said and once you thin down the head to the appropriate thickness for your tuners including the head plate then you will even have more over all length to the peg head. |
