I wanted to share my latest build with everyone. I'm pretty excited as I've tried my hand at designing and creating inlays for the first time. The customer was Elvis Presley's Bass player for the last 5 years that he was touring so I'm trying to pull out all the stops on this one. I'm just about to start spraying the lacquer and she's all sealed up with a few coats of shellac. I'll do the fretboard inlay after she's sprayed, as I'm waiting on pearl to arrive.

Bearclaw Spruce Top from RC Tonewoods
African Blackwood Backs and Sides from Ebay.

Thanks for looking.

-Chris

I love the look, and it looks so well executed!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Beautiful stuff. I think I remember seeing a bowed guitar you made a while back, prompted me to make one for my self. Of course it was inspired by the amazing guitar viols but I remember yours was great aswell!

Have Mercy!

Joel
