Post subject: | rosewood fret board question |
I am new here and starting a new neck with rosewood fret board and was wondering if anyone uses a grain filler on rosewood as it is a open grain wood? Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated. Lynn |

Hi Lynn: Welcome to the OLF! Fretboards are generally not pore filled and really don't need to be either. Hope this helps. |

Pore filler is applied so that the top coating can be leveled flat so as to provide a completely smooth surface that can then be polished to a high gloss, if the maker/finisher chooses to do so. Generally the fingerboard is not finished but rather waxed or dressed with one of the other commercial fingerboard treatments. Short answer -- no. |
