Good morning everyone,

I am currently working off of the Kinkade Kingsdown plan set that came with the book. I just realized there is no template for the sides. What do I do, there is a full size 1:1 Birdseye view, and a side view, but that's it. From searching the forum, it appears that many have built this guitar with no real issue. Thank you all for your help.

I built my first from that plan and just followed the method in the book. Basically just glue in the neck and tail block and plane the sides down to the blocks checking it with your radius dish if you are using one. It's a great, straightforward book on building. One tip though; the bracing is too heavy on the plan, start with .25" wide by 9/16 tall bracing at the X and just taper them, you'll end up with a much more balanced mids, and better tonal separation overall. Just my opinion.

You can cut the taper on a table saw starting at the high-point to the heel and the high-point to the tail-block (joint). This is done when they are still flat. It is in the Hana Lima book if you know a ukulele builder.
I cut both sides double-sided-taped together using a sled with the sides clamped in place.
Don't know how to do a picture.

If memory serve, as you move on there is a section where Jonathan has you make thin template that fits the outer perimeter of the the assembled rim, that is placed on the rim and sloped to the neck and tail block heights. Then you draw a line and cut off the excess. That will work OK but the geometry is a little off. You need to bend the template up about 3/16" at the inner waist curve so the dome of the back will match. I thought it was a little weird but it will work.

Yeah the builder I'm working with had me plot the slope of the sides and make a template. The book does it a little different

Worked on the guitar last night. Thank you all for your help, what he had me do worked, but we discussed all of the other approaches you listed. Very informative evening.
