Today, I succeeded in super-gluing my right index finger to my left thumb.

I feel your pain. I've glued my fingers together and glued myself to different guitar parts on occasion. Always good to keep a bottle of CA solvent handy.

But does it stick forever? A worse woe imo is an errant drip!

Just for fun, try gluing your index finger, thumb and workpiece to your workbench when there's no one else around and the solvent is in sight but out of reach.

when I was at Collings, a very young and quiet new guy glued his hand firmly to the bench. didn't know how to undo it. Waited 15 minutes before he mustard up the courage to stop a passerby and tell them what was up.

How did they make guitars before super glue?

I glued my index finger to my thumb with CA glue once. When I looked down I somehow knew it would be OK

my worst was when my daughter at age 3 found a foil tube of CA (on a pretty high shelf in our house) and bit down on it. she glued her mouth shut. It did free itself from the wet tissues of the mouth pretty quickly, but there was still a few hours clean up before my wife got home from work  .

LOL I guess I've been lucky then because when I feel my fingers are getting stuck I quickly just pull them apart. I won't take you up on the gluing my finger to the workbench experiment however laughing6-hehe

Spilled some once and discovered my foot was glued to my flip flop, which was glued to the shop floor. I was able to reach a razor blade and cut the sole of the flip flop to get loose. Part of the sole stayed on my foot for a day or so.

Where else could you get stories like this?

James, you had nothing to worry about. There is a chisel right there to separate the fingers! wow7-eyes

Ain't that the truth. Once I was concentrating on some fine work and had my left hand on my bench for several minutes to steady my right hand. You guessed it, my left hand was sitting in some spilled CA. Fortunately I could just barely reach the shelf with the solvent on it otherwise I would have had to wait for my wife to get curious about why I had not come up from the shop. laughing6-hehe

It's like that kid in the Christmas movie who got his tongue stuck to the frozen metal light pole. laughing6-hehe

A while back there was another discussion of this and there was someone who had splashed it on their coffee cup and their lip got glued to the cup. There was also someone who was working in boxers in a wheel chair and spilled some in his lap. He won the Doofus award. Can't remember who either person was.

By the way I tried putting acetone on hardened CA and it did not do anything. Was I not doing it right?

We had a doofus at work who liked to sneak up behind people and squirt the real runny stuff under people's shoes while they were standing at their workbench. Fortunately nobody broke an ankle or knee before he figured out that what may seem funny ain't really...

I've heard of people being 'stuck on you' but when they are stuck on themselves it a whole different ball game

There was a guy in high school who was suspended for putting crazy glue on toilet seats. He also got punched out a few times in gym class for cheap shots.

Thanks - and fingers can be detached without tooooo much difficulty, but these posts always remind me of how important it is to wear glasses or eye protection when using thin CA..... one squirt in the wrong direction, and you've got a real problem....
