What is the best way to "firm up" fairly soft spalted maple for a rosette? I'm thinking flooding with thin CA, but would be happy to hear of any other ways. Thanks folks! Alex |

Minwax makes a product called Wood Hardener, I've used that on some dry rot around a window sill, it should work fine. Myself, I just use CA on my spalted rosettes. |

I've used CA with success. |

CA from both sides before cutting, lay on some wax paper, don't ask how I know this. Fred |

If you flood with CA do it before inlaying into the top. You will not like what CA looks like when it soaks into spruce. |
