[uncle]

A customer brought me a rather expensive dreadnought guitar finished with poly (hmm, I like nitro myself). He wants me to reset the neck. This is my first poly guitar. My main concern is will I be able to score the finish cleanly around the neck and fret board without chipping the finish?
Someone told me if it does chip, fix it with super glue. Sounds like a mess to me...
Am looking for advice from someone who has done this before, suggestions, etc...
Thank you...

There will most likely be touch ups to do. Medium CA would be the best choice. Cut through the existing finish with a razor saw rather than just score. Repair the chips and such and then set the neck ala Martin and do not finish over the joint. That makes it easier for the next guy who needs to pull the neck.

I would score it with an exacto knife .. heated up with a torch or candle ... had to do this with a les paul that needed a new nut, as Gibson like to finish over the nut, and it came out pretty clean ..

Thanks for the input and advice...it's nice to know it's been done before and can be done.
I'll use my tried and true method...and "go slow".
