Hey Gang!
I shipped this guitar priority express to a guy in California, and darned if the finish didn't check on it in the airplane hold.
Anybody in the San Francisco/Brentwood area interested in taking this on?
I've repaired these types of checks by spraying blush eraser, then a coat of laquer 24 hours later.
It's over the face of it.
I use the Cumpiano M/T neck joint, so the tongue is glued down,
He wants to get it repaired locally.
Obviously an experienced professional is targeted here.
Sherwin Williams Nitrocellulose was used.

San Francisco/Brentwood, although I'm sure he would drive a couple hours.

Addam Stark is a fine finisher who shares space with Rick Turner in Santa Cruz. He was the head of finishing for Santa Cruz Guitar Co. for a number of years, and although he's always busy, he'd be a good choice to refinish the top of your guitar. He'd also be able to handle neck and bridge removal/regluing.

How about Gryphon stringed instruments? I'd feel safe having Frank Ford's team work on my guitars...

EDIT: Frank and I were typing at the same time....

Alain - Thanks for the thought. We don't have a real spray booth here these days, so we do tend to refer folks to Addam. As to the repair itself, I certainly would not be able to take it on in the manner suggested. I'd expect to have to strip and refinish in order to get a predictable result. That, along with bridge and neck removal and regluing, would make for a fairly time-consuming job.

Have you ever tried it in the manner described?
I have.
But I understand the thought behind stripping and refinishing.
He'll probably give you a call, feel free to refer him to whoever you think can do a good job.
