Post subject:  Koa 00 guitar with an arm bevel, ready for setup

I just finished the construction of a 00 steel string with an arm bevel. This is my first guitar in awhile without someone waiting, so I turned it into a learning project. This is also my first arm bevel and cut-away. The guitar is still not perfect I made a couple of blunders along the way but over all I am happy with the guitar and the progress I am making.

WRC top,
Koa Back and Sides.
BRW fret board
Amboyna burl rosette and head stock veneer
Ebony bindings and arm bevel
I am still deciding on my bridge. I have a block of BRW that I will either make a pyramid or a scaled down Martin D looking bridge.

Thanks for looking

I still have to do my first cutaway, let alone an arm bevel. Still a bit scared. Yours is looking great.

Lovely [:-) Very nice guitar. I'm thinking I'll try an arm bevel and bound fingerboard on my next build- I haven't done either of those yet. Your bevel is nice- not too big, but gives the break in the edge you want.

Thanks for all of the kind comments, btw my shop is usually a complete mess and a dangerous disaster zone.

I pore filled the back, sides and neck with Zpoxy and finished sanded the top, so once I place the bridge I am ready to spray.

Great guitar and great shop to boot!!! Some guys are just good [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:]

Edit: I didn't see Tom's comment. And I thought I was the only jealous one here.

Thank you. I sprayed the first coat of EM6000 this afternoon. I am getting excited to finish this one.

The bindings and the tuner knob are ebony as well as the bevel. The bevel really is ebony veneer on a basswood substrate, installed following Kent Everett's method shown in his Transitional Arm Bevel DVD.

I like my shop as well. I have a modern rambler with a daylight basement built into a hill. When the house was built the foundation stayed at the daylight level thirty or so extra feet into the dirt crawl space under the single story part of the house. I was able to dig it out and pore a concrete slab just enough to get a 20 foot deep space the width of my house. It has a separate heating\cooling system with humidity control. The only down side is no natural lights, so I went big on quality and quantity of fluorescent lights.

I am getting very close to finishing this guitar. I should have it setup by Friday or Saturday. I could not wait to post a preview from my phone camera.

John, That is a beautiful instrument. I like the look of the low cutaway. Is that your design? If so... kudos..

The wood looks stunning especially with the ebony binding.

I love seeing other guys shops. Yours looks to be set up really well and I specifically like the router table sound system.
