There has been some discussion on EVO fretwire on the OLF... So what's the verdict? Do you like it or not? ...why? ![]() |

I use it on new builds and I like it. Some folks worry about the color match but since I put phosphor-bronze strings on my guitars it's not real noticeable in my opinion - of course others won't agree. For repairs I match the original wire. |

Yea on steel strings. It's harder. I'd like to think for that fact it's a selling feature. I wonder it buyers think the same? |

I like it. Wears almost as well as stainless and has a nice look when coordinated with hardware etc. |

I use it and would never go back. I think it's easier to use and works better then regular. The color does not bother me. As a matter of fact I think it goes with most of our wood colors much better then regular wire. Have not taken the step to stainless and doubt I will. Tom |

Have switched to it and like the look and the way it seems to work. |

If it looks good with the rest of the guitar's color scheme, use it. Not much more expensive or difficult to work than nickel silver, and a lot easier than stainless steel. |

It works better than any of the standard stuff I've used. You can either live with the colour or you can't. |

Yea I like the extra hardness and don't mind the color. |

Other that it is hard to cut, stainless steel fret wire is easy to file, level, sand, polish, etc It's more the springyness that makes it difficult for me. Evo and nickel silver can be over-radiused a bit and then pressed in and they bend to fit. Stainless has to be absolutely perfect or the center or ends will pop up (unless you glue them and clamp each fret until dry). At least from the tests I've done. I haven't fretted a whole guitar with it. |

I like it too. When you first put it on, its really shiny. But after awhile it does dull down after some playing and age. Looks great with gold tuners. I don't play a whole lot, but it seems to be holding up well. |
